10.1 Candidates will be able to create a technology vision for a school.
As a part of learning how to be a technology leader, we learned about different theories of technological implementation. After learning about these theories we were able to plan for implementing new technologies. I decided to take on the planning of implementing 1:1 Chromebook devices. In this planning project I align my understanding of Ely's Eight Conditions for Technological Change as well as Surry's Attributes to find the best methods for planning for a new technology.
10.2 Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to lead technology initiatives at the school or district level.
As a part of my technology internship through Loyola, I was a technology leader in my school setting. To plan for a successful year, I created an internship proposal that outlines my action plan for the year. Within the action plan, I demonstrate how I plan to lead our school in technology support and understanding. When planning the proposal, I planned for many objectives, but as the year started and I began to fill my role, I scaled back some of the proposed ideas. It is very important as a technology leader to assess staff and their thoughts. Time seemed to be a big constraint for many people, so I tried to find ways to incorporate my proposed idea in a format that would benefit everyone. For example, instead of 2 Tech Thursdays a month, I scaled it back to 1. This definitely had a positive impact on attendance. Overall, I was able to achieve mostly all of the proposed ideas.
